Our skin is our largest organ and I often say that it is a blank slate onto which we write using different pens. The first of them comes in the form of our genetic code, the second one is heavily burdened by stress, the third one smells like chocolate. Different people use different writing instruments, and we use them freely. The end result is skin with various problems and needs. The most common skin problems still pertain to pimples, blackheads, oily and impure skin.
Acne Causes
There are various reasons for the emergence of impurities on the skin but we consider genetic predisposition to impure skin and hormonal imbalances among the biggest culprits. Acne occurs due to an increased secretion of sebum from the sebaceous glands as well as due to various inflammations and excessive propagation of the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria.

- Acne is most frequent in adolescence and in women after the age of 25. It often occurs during menopause and before women’s monthly cycles, and a growing number of researches also cite stress as one of the major triggers of acne
What can we do?
Fresh air and plenty of sleep
There is a lot we can do ourselves when fighting acne. Reducing our stress levels (meditation, yoga, walks in nature), plenty of exercise outdoors, a balanced diet (avoid processed and fatty or fried foods) and enough sleep can significantly improve your skin problems.
Suitable care
Choosing products for treatment of oily and impure skin should be done with great care. The most common mistake is treating such skin with aggressive cleansing agents. I frequently like to point out that we are not so dirty that we should be disinfected every night. Aggressive cleansing agents subject the skin to stress and dry it out. The skin responds with a further increase in the secretion of sebum, resulting in a skin that is even oilier than before we started treating it. I like to advise that oily skin should be cleaned every night with a gentle cleansing agent that will remove dead skin cells, bacteria and other impurities but will not deprive the skin of its own nutrients or disturb its protective layer.
What a skincare product for acne should contain?
Always choose a cream without any comedogenic ingredients, because these will cause clogging of the pores, preventing the skin from secreting the impurities that deposit themselves in your skin’s follicles. In cases of severe skin problems, I recommend a visit to the dermatologist who will be able to suggest a suitable skin care regime, based on the analysis of your skin’s condition.
