Let us first tell you something about the story below. It was written by Tamara, a young woman and the author of the diary: Menstrual Cycle Journal. In it, she explores and discovers ways through which a woman feels and exploits her femininity and inner strength. An important part of the process is to follow the women's menstrual cycle. Tamara summed up the thought in a book that you is available on Kickstarter. For more info click here.
Tamara, the word is yours
We have learned to ignore the needs of our bodies and psyche during menstruation and during our PMS times. The first days of our bleeding times are often very painful, but we rarely take time for rest.
We (women) are caregivers by nature. In order for us to give, we must first empty, purify ourselves and then recharge our energies. This allows our energy to be circulated, renewed and expanded. Menstruation allows us to refresh each month through a phase of emptying, cleansing and recharging if we only devote our time to it.
Here are five steps that you can take to have empowering, pain free menstrual experience
1. TRACK YOUR CYCLE
First, you need to track your menstrual cycle, so that you know where exactly in month you are. A very good example on how to track your cycle is just starting at Kickstarter named Menstrual Cycle Journal. It enables you to track your daily, monthly and yearly cycle along with learning about your optimum times to do the right activities at the right time – so that your body and psyche can support you the most.
2. PREPARE YOURSELF
To have enhanced period experience, you should take some time during your pre-menstrual times to prepare yourself logistically and emotionally for the retreat during your bleeding times. Make a note of when it is most likely your period to come and plan to be flexible around these dates. According to Miranda Gray (Optimized woman), your pre-menstrual times are the Optimum times for creativity, inspiration, out of the box thinking and creating a clear direction.
3. CREATE SPECIAL RITUAL TO HONOR THE FEMININE IN YOU
During your menstruation, your awareness turns inward and your intuitive thoughts and feelings are heightened - connection with your subconscious is very strong.
Try planning and using these times to get in touch with your femininity through different rituals, that suit you the most. What brings your most essential feminine energies to life? What activity brings your inner Goddess alive? Is that sensual dancing, creating, breast massage, meditation in nature …?
4. USE CBD AS NATURAL REMEDY TO HELP YOU WITH YOUR PAIN
According to research, about 80% of women in their reproductive-age experience painful periods. More and more women are reporting that CBD and THC products are very good tools they have for treating painful periods. The science is pretty clear about the reason why: CBD targets the cause — inflammatory prostaglandins — while also relieving the symptoms.
CBD and other cannabinoids can also treat painful menstrual cramps because of their anti-inflammatory effect, muscle-relaxing effect (targeting different receptors embedded in the muscle tissue to relax contractions) and vascular-relaxing affect (cannabinoids trigger the smooth muscle to relax and blood flow to increase.
5. TAKE TIME AND REFLECT
In order for us to start a new month revitalized and renewed, you can look at the previous month (or more distant past) and reflect. It is good to ponder on the previous month’s events, feelings, thoughts, review current projects and goals and to commit to change. This (menstruation) phase offers us a uniquely female path to living life from an overview of perspective.
So, will you give yourself a try and plan conscious menstrual experience for your next bleeding times?
