We Offer A Solution For Sensitive Scalp

Itchiness, dandruff and excessive oiliness are just some of the many scalp-related problems that individuals experience. However, to improve the situation, we need to know why these issues are surfacing in the first place.

Reasons for a sensitive scalp

There are several causes of a sensitive scalp. One of them are physical factors - in this case, the culprit is usually a change in temperature - hot or cold - or a change in season. We often notice that our hair falls out in greater quantities in autumn and spring, which is completely normal and the result of evolution.

Cosmetics also have a significant impact - if they are unsuitable, that can be one of the problems. Shampoos containing artificial foaming agents create a seemingly lush and luxurious lather, but the latter can have a very negative impact on our scalp in the long run.

In addition, the scalp can be affected by a variety of psychological factors too, i.e., stress, hormonal changes and, especially in women, the menstrual cycle.

Dandruff - how to combat it?

Itchy scalp is most often caused by dandruff, which, in addition to itching, causes aesthetic problems as well. As many as half of the adult population faces this problem and teens often feel uncomfortable and insecure because of it. We usually take the wrong approach to solving this problem, though - we use more shampoo, wash our hair every day and use dry shampoo on top of it, all of which only dries out our scalp more.

Dandruff is most commonly caused by hormonal changes or the deposition of dead skin cells, though it can also be affected by genetics, diet and stress, so we can do a lot of the work ourselves. Reducing stress and getting enough omega fatty acids and vitamins can help improve the condition, and you can try our Gentle Hydrolate Shampoo for better results too, since its formula tends to have a very soothing effect on these types of scalp issues.

What to look out for when choosing a shampoo

First, let’s stress that, much like when we’re talking about the rest of the body, natural products are by far the best when it comes to scalp care too, so be sure to check the list of ingredients when buying a shampoo. The best way to avoid a whole slew of potential issues is, therefore, to simply not use shampoos that contain artificial ingredients. A shampoo should be free of artificial foaming agents (identified by the name Sodium Laureth Sulphate) and silicones (identified by the suffix -thicone).

Artificial foaming agents seemingly de-grease the scalp, but the problem is that in doing that, they also remove the hydrolipidic layer of the skin, which is essential in protecting the scalp.

Silicones, on the other hand, are the substances that give our hair a superficial softness, but at the same time irritate the scalp. They prevent hair from accessing nutrients, which, in the long run, causes brittleness and greasiness. The silicones in these products can also cause the problems mentioned above, such as dandruff, itching and hair loss.

A natural solution - Gentle Hydrolate Shampoo

Our Gentle Hydrolate Shampoo does not contain any artificial foaming agents - instead, it is enriched with a pure, natural cleansing base that cleans and soothes the scalp. It consists of hemp hydrolate that soothes the skin, hempseed oil as a source of natural fats and a combination of essential oils that relieve itchiness and promote healthy hair growth. The shampoo relieves the stress on your scalp and provides natural care, as confirmed by many of our customers. As it is a completely natural product, it is suitable for everyone, regardless of the problems they are facing.

How should I care for my scalp?

Regular brushing and combing can help ensure good circulation, as can scalp massage, which should be done as often as possible. It’s also important to take care of your scalp after washing it - it’s best to let your hair dry at room temperature and then nourish it with a few drops of natural oil. We recommend the Replenishing Antioxidant Face Oil, which is also great for treating your hair ends.

In addition to proper care, other factors also influence the health of the scalp and one of them is undoubtedly a healthy diet, which helps keep our hair healthy too. It is also advisable to avoid heat treatment processes such as straightening, curling, drying, etc. as much as possible. In addition, we recommend rinsing your hair with cold water to close the keratin scales.

But it requires perseverance to achieve results. The same applies to the scalp - changes don’t happen overnight but rather slowly, after a certain period of using the shampoo and taking proper care of it. Therefore, we need to consistently use the product for a while to notice progress.

Better safe than sorry

Even if you’re not experiencing any problems yet, it is a good idea to protect yourself against them as a means of precaution. You can do that in a variety of ways - one of them is, as mentioned above, a healthy lifestyle. Consuming enough vitamins and minerals has many positive effects, including on the scalp. The next step towards healthy hair is brushing and cleaning. But to avoid dry hair, split ends and dandruff, the most important advice we can give you is just to use natural products. The shampoo and oils we use should be natural and contain as few artificial substances as possible.

Washing your hair too often is harmful - myth or fact?

You’ve probably heard that washing your hair too frequently is bad before. But is that true?

It is true that shampoos with artificial foaming agents can remove the protective layer of the scalp, which can lead to increased oil production, so if we use a shampoo that contains them, we should not wash our hair too often, since we can achieve the opposite effect.

In case you use natural products, it’s safe to wash your hair more frequently - but don’t overdo it anyway. Over-washing is especially discouraged if you use warm water, since it can damage the scalp.

For proper care, we recommend the Gentle Hydrolate Shampoo, because it does not remove the protective layer off the scalp; it only gently cleanses, supports healthy hair growth, softens it, and gives it shine.
