Atopic dermatitis and psoriasis

Here at Hemptouch, we are dedicating the month of October to skin problems and real stories of customers who have found effective support for their skin in our products. In this blog, we want to bring you closer to natural solutions for restoring balance and to the path towards permanent solutions to skin problems.

Atopic dermatitis and psoriasis

The skin is our largest organ

It is a reflection of our health and often an organ of stress, which communicates its imbalances to us in different ways. If you observe your surroundings, you can see that many of us have skin problems or know someone who does. Some of these might just be transient ailments and imbalances, while others are more severe chronic conditions that affect the overall quality of life and self-image.

The skin really is the reflection of our health so when we’re doing well, that shows on the outside too ;)

Can CBD help with skin problems?

CBD cannabinoid has the ability to activate our own endocannabinoid system. Phytocannabinoids - hemp cannabinoids - are cannabinoid molecules that closely resemble endocannabinoids found in our organism. Endocannabinoids coordinate the functioning of the whole organism and help the body when it needs support to maintain its health and well-being. We could actually say that the endocannabinoid system is the conductor of our body, for it makes sure that it works in harmony and in tune.

The skin also has its own endocannabinoid system

This means that the endocannabinoid receptors can be found in our skin as well, giving CBD an exceptional potential for therapeutic activity in the case of skin problems. These findings are supported by studies that suggest a great potential of phytocannabinoids for skin problems such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.

To briefly summarise the effect of CBD on psoriasis: the cannabinoids from industrial hemp have an anti-inflammatory effect and inhibit the growth of keratinocytes, the cells that regenerate the epidermis by producing new ones. In psoriasis, the production of keratinocytes in the skin’s epidermis is too fast, but cannabinoids slow it down and eventually normalise it, which leads to a reduction of scaly skin.

In the case of psoriasis, the best combination is usually the simultaneous use of the Pristine Forest Body Lotion and the Therapeutic CBD Skin Balm. You can take an even more systematic approach and help your skin by supporting it with CBD drops. This way, you restore the balance of your body and skin from the inside out.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune disease in which skin cells divide at an accelerated rate. As a result of this division, eczemas appear on the skin, usually red with a silver border, though they can also be pink or brown. There is still no cure for it available, but there are different therapies to alleviate its symptoms.

We would like to share the story of our colleague who has been dealing with psoriasis for a long time now. He told us that his skin condition is noticeably worse during the colder months of the year, but that he usually sees a mild improvement during his summer vacation at the seaside. His skincare routine consisted of a daily application of the Pristine Forest Body Lotion, followed immediately by the Therapeutic CBD Skin Balm. He tended to the problem areas in the morning and in the evening. In the evenings, he actually applied both products twice: once right after showering and then one more time before bed.

Here is the result of the treatment after three weeks:

Atopic dermatitis and psoriasis The scaly layer of the epidermis is much less pronounced and the redness is significantly less noticeable.

Atopic dermatitis

Dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disease that most commonly occurs in children. It affects around 10% of children up to the age of six. It usually appears during the colder months and is characterised by red rashes and severe itching. Because atopic dermatitis is an inflammatory disease, CBD has a positive effect on it, as it is known for it’s anti-inflammatory activity. CBD effectively relieves itching and redness, which are the two most prominent issues in atopic dermatitis.

Our customer Anika shared her experience of limiting the condition of her atopic dermatitis.

"It started with rashes on my hands from late autumn to late spring - each year on a larger area. I have tried many products over the years, but none has helped me as much as your Soothing CBD Skin Balm. In just two weeks of regular use 1-2 times a day, the rashes have almost completely disappeared. I am delighted and overjoyed with the result!"

In the case of atopic dermatitis, the best combination is usually the simultaneous use of Pristine Forest Body Lotion and Soothing CBD Skin Balm.

Balance is the key to healthy skin

The CBD cannabinoid is so effective in relieving skin problems because our skin has its own endocannabinoid system. It ensures optimal intercellular communication, thus keeping the skin healthy and balanced. Cosmetic products containing CBD extract therefore have great potential in providing support for skin problems while finding lasting solutions to maintain balance. They are also completely natural, so they do not cause side-effects that could put additional strain on the skin.
